A cracked bottle receiver or a damaged bottle-piercing pin may need replacement. This guide accompanies our video showing how the receiver and pin are removed on the cooler used in the demonstration. Check the construction of your own model before starting: mounting and locking arrangements can differ.

Replacing a water cooler bottle receiver

Prepare the cooler

Disconnect the cooler from the power supply. Allow any hot water to cool, remove the bottle and drain the water according to the instructions for your model before removing the receiver.

Removing the receiver and piercing pin

In the demonstrated arrangement, the upper receiver is held firmly with both hands, turned anticlockwise to release its locking tabs and lifted out. The pin can then be accessed for replacement. Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order, making sure the receiver is properly seated and secured.

Do not assume that the same turning direction or mounting applies to every cooler. Piercing pins can have different mounting arrangements, including a top-removable assembly, a threaded fitting underneath and retaining clips. Inspect your original part and follow the instructions for the particular model. Do not force a part that will not release.

Choosing the replacement part

Match the cooler model, receiver dimensions, locking tabs and pin fitting to the original component. A receiver or pin from another model is not automatically interchangeable.

For help choosing a part, send the cooler model and clear photographs of the original receiver and its fittings using the details on the Contacts page. Current payment and delivery conditions are listed under Payment and delivery.
